2002 NUCHI Elections

In the announcement of November's meeting we asked for NUCHI officer nominations. We received enough nominations/volunteers to fill the four required positions, but not enough to have choices -- all are running unopposed. Following is a list of the proposed officers and a short bio of each.

All officers must be members of ACM SIGCHI as well as NUCHI. Unless there are objections these officers will start there terms at the beginning of March 2002.

Chair: Robert Schloss

Robert Schloss has worked for Fidelity Investments Systems Company in Salt Lake City for the past 3 years as a Software Engineer/HID Specialist. His primary responsibility has been to help redesign the interface to a work-flow program used throughout the Fidelity companies. He has been involved in computers for over 20 years. His formal involvement in interface design started early on at WordPerfect where he participated in a team that began specifying interface standards and eventually grew into a full usability team and lab. He has been an active CHI member for the past three years and helped with some presentations on web usability for NUCHI. Although Robert's background is from the development side, he feels he can communicate with end users on their level.

Vice Chair: Wendy Sudar

I have been heavily involved in Human Factors since the early 90's, where I worked on the Usability team for WordPerfect Corporation. Since that time, I've been heavily involved with Human Factors design work for multiple software companies in Utah county. I'm committed to NUCHI's success and look forward to working with you throughout 2002-2003...

Treasurer: Andy Schechterman

Andy Schechterman, MS, PhD: Andy owns his own company where he provides strategic user experience research & design, establishing forthright, ethical long-term business and collegial relationships. By training, Andy is a Medical Psychologist and Interaction Designer of 17 years. He has led software, hardware, product, service, and environmental design teams. He is the current Secretary of NUCHI, having been a member since returning to Utah in 1998. He is also a member of ACD, ACM, APA, DMI, and UPA.

“Dear NUCHI colleagues, Having served as Secretary for several years, I believe I have the capacity to further represent you, this time in the financial management of our chapter. It would be a privilege to serve our Utah CHI community as your Treasurer. Thank you for considering me!”

Secretary: Grant Skousen

Interaction design is what I have done for over 15 years. I get a kick out of seeing delight on a customers face when a prototype works. I like watching the light come on when a team understands what really matters; putting screen shots, notes and flow all over walls till connections become apparent; iterating until there is something that excites all involved.

I have served as NUCHI chair and vice chair and look forward to the opportunity to continue my association with NUCHI as secretary.
